In 1969 Don Russell moved from Clark Fork, ID to Missoula, MT and bought a small excavating company with one backhoe and a dump truck. In 1971 his two sons Dave and Dan joined him. Father and sons worked together as Russell Excavating for the next 14 years until Dave and Dan took over the company. Today Russell Excavating Inc. is owned and operated by Dave’s son Jared Russell.
Three generations of knowledge, experience and values have been passed on and continue to be the driving force behind all of the quality work we perform. Jared is involved in all phases of the business, from the initial estimates and site development to the final completion. Jared, along with his father Dave Russell, will be by your side from start to finish.

J.D. Russell Excavating also operates two gravel pits near Missoula and provides a wide range of products to Western Montana. We have several trucks to meet all of your needs.
JD Russell Excavating has supplied a large amount of material for the Bonner / Milltown Dam Restoration Project as well as material for the pedestrian path that connects Turah and Bonner with the Missoula Trail System. We have also provided material for local, state and federal projects throughout the years.
